A DIVERSION

I have been such a mommy since Anton's yaya left. I did nothing but housework and babysit. I've also been going to work to make sure I finish my unfinished business, fix all the stuff in my desk and to compose my farewell emails to my contacts haha. But Neal gave me a diversion from all that. Just before Christmas he bought me a Twilight DVD. I haven't read the books but I wanted to watch the movie. Neal watched it first and he wondered what the fuss was all about. He said the story isn't nice and the girl in it wasn't even pretty. The first time I watched it was 4 days ago and I've already watched in thrice. The first time I wasn't even able to finish it cos Anton woke from his nap. The next time I watched it I made sure Anton is really fast sleep so that I can concentrate for a couple of hours. The story is really predictable and cheesy. Reminds me of Sweet Dreams books I used to read back in high school. But its such a guilty pleasure. The story is just fascinating and the actors really did a good job. And don't get me started on how hot Edward Cullen is. This actor will be the next sexiest guy I bet. Then I see his interviews on youtube with that messy hair. I had to do a double take to make sure it was the same guy. I may be the last one to watch this movie but I have also been bitten. Now all I have to do is watch this movie some more to get it out of my system.

2 MOVIES

I just want to throw out my opinion on the last 2 movies I saw. We watched Hancock the other Saturday in Powerplant and Wanted last Sunday in Greenbelt 3. Hands down Wanted was the better movie. And I think James McAvoy is hot. I don't know this guy, it's the first time I've seen him in a movie but he has a great character and I'm loving him.

It's also the first time I watched a movie in G3 after 3 years. Powerplant I think has a bigger screen but G3 has better seats and much better popcorn. But we will still take Powerplant any day. It's only 5 minutes away from Anton :)

Speaking of hot men I discovered something on TV. Lipstick Jungle is on 2nd Avenue every Mondays 9pm. I stumbled on this show a couple of weeks ago and I usually don't bother with those kinds of shows since I can't watch it naman every single week but then I saw this young hot guy who is having an affair with the blonde woman. Then I was hooked. I don't even know the guy's name but he's so cutie. Sobra akong inspired baka magkaron na ng kapatid si Anton. Let's just say Neal also loves this show. Hahahaha!

IRON MAN

It was our 5th anniversary of being together (as BF/GF) yesterday and our schedules were full. Full of errands for me and work for Neal.

I was out of the house by 9am to drive my mom home to QC, do some groceries and get Anton a haircut. Neal on the other hand has to check on his agents who were in an exhibit in Cash and Carry and conduct a seminar in Moonwalk by 5 pm.

But since it was a special day for us Neal managed to get home by 9 pm to pick me up and off we went to Powerplant to watch Iron Man.

I wasn't very excited about this movie when I first saw the trailer. I didn't know who this character was and playing the lead pa was Robert Downey Jr. I loved RDJ back in his Chances Are, Only You and Heart and Souls days, but after the drug addiction he lost his appeal (for me at least). So since this is a huge movie I wasn't too sure that RDJ would be the best actor for this film.

At the start of the movie I was unsure. But as the movie went on and I saw the real character of Tony Stark (aka the Iron Man), I believed it. RDJ became Tony Stark. He was perfection. And Gwyneth Paltrow did a wonderful job as Ms. Potts as well. The story was superb, the script was great and I just love his costume. I'll surely be talking about this movie for a while. And I want to watch it again. Because I just found out that there's a teaser pa pala for part 2 after the credits. That I have to watch for myself.

THE FORBIDDEN KINGDOM

I just learned about this movie yesterday morning while we were at SM Bicutan. It's the first (and maybe the last) movie starring 2 of the biggest Asian stars, Jackie Chan and Jet Li. I did not even know it was showing already until I texted CTC for the current movies. There were 2 theaters in Powerplant showing this movie (out of 6 theaters) and all the evening shows last night were packed. In fact we had to settle for a later show because the next screening (we were buying the tickets an hour before the show) only had seats in the first 2 rows.

The movie was pretty entertaining though the story was predictable and a bit cheesy. This is a lighter movie compared to Hero and Crouching Tiger. I would even say it's for the whole family since there was a lot of comedy and there wasn't too much blood. And the actors were great. But I just thought the fight scene of Jackie Chan and Jet Li took too long. It really looks like this is the first and last time they'll do it and they wanted to give everyone something to remember. The American actor did a great job too. He's the same kid from Sky High and I think he's a very effective actor.

Check out the official site here.

I'm glad I saw this movie. I just love Jackie Chan and Jet Li. And what did my hubby want to watch? The Superhero Movie! Buti nalang napigilan ko.

U2 3D

I first found out about this on Our Awesome Planet. I love watching 3D movies so I just have to see this concert. So I dragged hubby to watch with me last Sunday. I know he would not enjoy it (I was right, he slept daw a bit during the movie) but wala syang choice.

I will recommend this especially to U2 and band fans out there. Now I see why they are one of the best bands. For the entire show there were only 4 of them on stage. No dancers, back-up singers, props nor gimmicks. It was just pure talent.

After the movie I was still singing Sunday Bloody Sunday. Now I love U2 more.

You can find the schedule on MOA Imax here. P500 per ticket.

VANTAGE POINT

I really enjoyed this movie. I admit I only saw this film because of Neal. I really wanted to see Atonement but since hubby had a bad day, I didn't want to torture him more by watching a love story.

The storyline is brilliant wherein the same scene is repeated over and over again but seen through the eyes of the different characters. In fact a lot of the viewers (including us) would laugh everytime the clock rewinds and the same scene is repeated. It was very entertaining indeed. Not as good as National Treasure but worth the ticket we paid for (which by the way increased again).

I also have to give credit to the actors Dennis Quaid, Matthew Fox, William Hurt and Sigourney Weaver. Ms. Weaver was only on for a very short time but for me she was the best actor on this film.

CARING FOR OUR ENVIRONMENT

Over lunch today, we had a chance to view Mr. Al Gore's documentary here at the office. Our company president is a big environmentalist so everyone was urged to watch the film. It's titled "An Inconvenient Truth" and it's all about global warming. It was an hour and a half long so I was ready to get bored. But everyone was glued to their seats and very interested to learn more. The film mostly showed us how global warming affects our planet, from the hurricanes to the melting of our glaciers. It also showed how our planet will look after 50 years if we don't help in our little way.

If you have a chance to watch this film please do so. We only have one planet. A planet which I hope my son can still appreciate. You can do your part right this second. Read this to learn how.

HBO NIGHT

I am a big TV addict and I am starting to get back at my usual routine hehe. In the past Anton will usually wake up at that small flashy sound TVs usually make when you turn them on, but now he has overcome it. And last night I was able to watch Rumor Has It on HBO. I was really intrigued with this movie when it came out and I'm glad I was able watch it at last. I think that making a movie based on the classic movie The Graduate is very clever, well at least for me who's sentimental about movies. I must admit the story is not perfect, there are too many sequences, but I love it. All the actors did a great job and I can't help but notice that Kevin Costner is still looking very fab (I had a big crush on him during his younger days). Now I wonder what I can watch on TV tonight?

ANOTHER TREASURE

National Treasure 2 is here! Thank God Hollywood films are back. We got left behind because of the MMFF, but I won't sulk because I did enjoy watching Desperadas. I mean we wouldn't watch a Filipino film if it weren't the MMFF season diba. Going back to Hollywood, Neal and I are big fans of the prequel, in fact if we had some free time NT is the movie we would pop in our player. After months of waiting we were able to watch it last night and the sequel is definitely another keeper. Never mind Nicholas Cage's bad hair and the unrealistic plot, this movie is so cool and entertaining. Though there are less clues than the prequel, there are more action scenes and they get to travel this time. I don't want to be a spoiler so I won't give any more details. Hope you guys find time to watch this treasure :)

FRIDAY NIGHT DATE

hubby and i decided to watch a movie last friday. i was not able to research on the current films so i asked my sister what was good. she said enchanted is a top grosser in the US and hitman is also good daw. i know neal is not a fan of fairy tales so i wanted to watch something else. but before we went up the cinema to buy tickets we bumped into a couple friend and tessa recommended enchanted. i guess it was a sign so we did end up buying enchanted tickets.

we had over an hour before the movie starts so we went around the mall first. neal's first stop was of course kidz station and he couldnt help but buy anton another toy car. then i took a look at the lingerie at marks & spencer and i was surprised that they carried nursing bras. they had stock of my size so i hurriedly tried it on and i loved it! bakit ngayon ko lang sya na-discover? and the price is not so bad at P2,450 for 2 bras :) it can support the girls at super comfy pa! super happy ako its an early christmas treat for me (and anton).

after all that we only had about 20 mins for dinner. we ate at banana leaf and we loved our hainanese chicken and stir-fried squid. medyo matagal lang dumating ang chicken pero service is still good. at least konting late lang kami sa movie.

when we entered the movie it was starting na. may cartoons pala sya. oh no neal is going to kill me hahaha! well its a nice movie but its not something neal will watch. lalo na yung musical sequence sa garden, gosh tawa kami ng tawa ni neal. para daw syang nanood ng movie ni manilyn reynes and janno gibbs hahahaha! kakaloka talaga si neal. pero na-enchant pa din ako. grabe patrick dempsey is such a cutiepie :) so anong masasabi naman ni neal? hindi na sya maniniwala sa mga sasabihin ni tessa hahaha!

BEOWULF ON IMAX

you really have to watch this movie at imax. as i mentioned before neal and i have been waiting for weeks for this movie. we finally watched it last night and we were not disappointed. this is the first full length movie we saw on 3d and it definitely wont be the last (keep it coming imax!). the show was fully sold out and i was a bit nervous because there were children. and children can be very annoying in movie theaters. but i heard no one and felt no one. i guess everyone was so enthralled at the movie as i was. there was no room for restroom breaks, texting and even popcorn munching (i let neal finish the popcorn). the picture and sound quality cannot even compare to regular theaters. the whole picture was in 3d including the usual paramount pictures logo at the start of the movie. from the fantastic opening sequence to the last scene with angelina jolie's face up close, this is entertainment at its best.

so what are you waiting for? buying advance tickets is a must. at P400 a ticket you deserve the best seats. find the schedule here.

BEOWULF STARTS NEXT WEEK!

neal and i cant wait for this movie. we also cant wait to go back to imax. the first time we were there we watched spiderman 3. we didnt get our money's worth since it wasnt 3d but neal wanted to take me there for me to experience imax. this theater has the hugest screen and i cant wait to feel the whole experience when we finally watch beowulf.

so the second time we went to imax was last friday with our 2 angels (aka kasambahays). even though we were not going to watch a movie the imax lobby is a great place for toddlers who are so malikot. cos when they fall they will land on soft carpet.

heres a few pics of anton at moa / imax.

BABYLON CANDLE

my hubby and i have been wanting to watch a movie for some time now. of course it can be difficult to find a common time especially with our anton. but finally last sunday we did manage to watch one. and from clickthecity.com reviews, there was only 1 movie currently showing that had terrific reviews - stardust. and terrific it is. its a beautiful love story, funny and all the actors did a fantastic job. i noticed a glitch though where michelle pfeiffer was supposed to be 'old' but in the scene she appeared 'young' again. but that was forgivable, it was that good. and im listing this movie as one of my favorites (by the way the last beautiful love story i watched was pride and prejudice. let me know if theres something major i missed). just go and watch it. im sure you would also love to have your own babylon candle.
