Manila - 8pm March 29, 2008
On March 29, 2008, from 8:00pm to 9:00pm, the entire stretch of Roxas Boulevard which spans three (3) cities will join the rest of the world for Earth Hour—an event that will create awareness on climate change and prove that people around the world working together can make a difference in the growing fight against global warming.
The Cultural Center of the Philippines’ fountain area will provide the backdrop for a countdown event where Philippine Earth Hour Ambassadors will come together with local press for a symbolic "switch off".
Even SM Mall of Asia, the world’s third largest mall, will shut down their lights for Earth Hour.
Similarly, Makati City will be turning their lights off along Buendia, Kalayaan, JP Rizal and Ayala Avenue.
All around the metro, HSBC, Intel, Canon, Coke, Jollibee, Greenwhich, and Chowking will be participating in Earth Hour by turning off the lights from their billboards and signages. Earth Hour in the Philippines is an initiative of WWF-Philippines, the Presidential Task Force on Climate Change (PTFCC) and Philips. This program is fully supported by the Pasay City Government through the auspices of Hon. Atty. Wenceslao B. Trinidad, City Government of Manila through Hon. Alfredo S. Lim, City Government of Paranaque through Hon. Florencio M. Bernabe, Jr., City Government of Makati through Mayor Jejomar C. Binay.
The Earth Hour (Metro) Manila team is working hard to encourage the rest of the metro to pitch in and switch off their lights. To find out more about Earth Hour and how you can help, please email tsantiago@wwf.org.ph

I found out that Intercon Hotel will also participate by doing the following:
1. Lights dimmed in the Lobby, Prince Albert and Jeepney to be illuminated by candle lights.
2. A poster will be in the lobby to inform guests of Earth Hour and they will have two (2) ladies dressed in native attire holding candle lamps to explain to guests what is happening at this time.
3. Prince Albert and Jeepney will prepare a special “candle light” menu only for this day.
4. The Sol Y Sombra and Pool Garden will have all its lights switched OFF and the area will be lighted up with candles.
I was actually at a park overlooking Sydney Opera House and Harbour bridge having a picnic with my family... It wasn't as dark, but I heard if we were downtown, the streets were quite dark really.. Hope you enjoyed Earth Hour! Galing no! This should probably be done at least once a quarter. I think lang. Para really significant change.
hi eileen! wow ang galing naman ng intercon. buti pa sila. i wasnt able to see how the earth hour was last sat because i was putting anton to sleep. pero i was disappointed to find out that our neighbors didnt turn off their lights :( so sad :(
